Back to School - Getting to Know Your Students

The more we know about a student's likes and dislikes can assist us in finding the activities that might generate an interest in a topic or subject matter.

There are many activities you can try to help you learn more about a student including just a short question/answer session about a student's interests. I started each first day with a getting to know you activity and then offered each student a short booklet with some questions to answer. This booklet allows the student to draw a picture on each page, too. You can ask the student to complete this on the first day or stretch it into a first week activity, doing one page per day.
