Some students finish their work very early and might tend to disturb others who are still working. Keep these students busy with some fun activities. Here are a few ideas!

*** Have tangram or pattern blocks patterns available for their use.

*** Keep some fun activity worksheets available.

 - Analogies:  Red is to apple as _________________ is to banana.
 - Word search puzzles
 
*** Games....have some quick-play games available.

 - Matching games for varied skills
 - Math games
 - Language games

*** Thinkers!

 - Offer students a challenge question such as: Name as many items as you can that might be found in a kitchen. Read more about Thinkers in an August 8, 2014 post in this blog.

*** Classroom library

 - Have a variety of fun/interesting books available to read.
 - Challenge the students with a question of the day based on various books in your classroom library
 -Allow students to keep a personal book inside the desk to read during down-time.

Do some of  these ideas take some time to prepare? Yes, of course, but it is worth every minute if you are able to keep students occupied during work time.
